Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Brand: NARS

Shade: Deauville/Light 4

Ideal for:

  1.    Fair to medium skin tones (In the bracket NC 15 to NC 25)
  2.     Oily skin types
  3.     Mattifying skin
  4.     Routine wear

Deserved Rating:

1.    Packaging:
4/5 – Nice packaging with pump attached so you get more control on the product dispensed but nothing too fancy to admire. Comes in a simple and ordinary packaging like we find in most of the foundations! The matte glass however describes the product really well.
2.    Texture:
3/5 – Nice weightless texture which instantly dries to matte finish so needs immediate blending otherwise it would stick to your skin just to give you an uneven application. Adds dewiness when blended with a damp beauty blender but generally the texture is more on the drying side.
3.    Blending
3/5 – I had tough time blending it. Only really damp beauty blender can work in this case. It is a bad mess with a brush.
4.    Lasting Power:
4.8/5 – Great! This definitely deserves full score because it lasts almost whole day making me look pretty throughout the day.
5.    Shade Color:
4.8/5 – This shade right here in Deauville is great for fair to slightly medium skin tones and true to its color. There is a great variety of shades available so life gets easier for those who normally have difficulty finding their right shade.
6.    Overall Rating:
4/5 – This is an extremely generous rating. I did not like the texture at all because it was too on the drying side and great for super oily skin types but those with normal or combination skin types and especially dry skin types should stay miles away from it.

Do I recommend it?

Yes & No!
Yes to oily skin types and no to all the rest including dry, dry-combination or even combination-oily skin types. This is perfect for super oily skin only because it dries so quickly and a total miss for winters when everything is already so dry and lifeless. It just makes my face look plain and boring with no hint of glow or dewiness if applied without the blender but yeah after some time like about 2 to 3 hours when skin produces oil in response to the dryness caused due to this foundation it starts to look natural but if you are planning to go out immediately after applying it you might end up looking like you just dipped you face in a tub full of powder.

Why is it a hit?

  •     Perfectly mattifies oily skin
  •     Does not feel heavy at all
  •     Great shade range

Why is it a miss?

  •     Drying texture
  •     Difficult to blend with brush or fingers
  •     Only blends well with a really damp beauty blender

  •     If you have combination to dry skin
  •     If you are planning to go out immediately after applying it on dry skin

Brace it with:

  •     A dewy makeup finishing spray
  •     A damp beauty blender to ease blendability
  •     Liquid highlighters on top
